GALLERY of Quilts Finished In 1999 |
During a long, dreary week of winter while daydreaming of my gardens and flipping through Seed Catalogues, this quilt came to be. While designing the centre, my son commented; "Yah, when Mom's in her garden, the world could be upside down, she wouldn't notice." Truth from the mouths of babes. My son's hand balances the dishes and my youngest son drew the flowers and the vase.
Techniques Used: Reverse Machine Applique, Machine Quilted and Hand Embellished.

"Treasured Moments" 18" x 24"
Created for the 1999 Annual CQA/ACC TrendTex Challenge
"In a world of chaos, sometimes spinning out of control, each of us is drawn to a place of refuge where we can regroup, rejuvenate and reflect! Although not everyone is a gardener, my most treasured moments are those amoung the flowers in my flower garden. Pulling weeds, watching the birds and catching the occasional scent of sweetness creates such a calm that keeps drawing me back through a busy day. It is my hope that this wallhanging reflects my love of gardening, county cottage style, surrounded by a world of chaos." |

Techniques used: Cottages are Hand Appliqued and Embroidery creates the gardens surrounding each home. The Chaotic background is created using techniques from Wendy Hill's book "On The Surface" published by C & T Publishing-1997. The Cottage scenes are Hand Quilted and the Chaotic background is Machine Quilted.
Treasured Moments won 1st Place in this competition and was sold by Auction at Quilt PEI '99 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Now owned by Danielle Swerhone, Ontario, Canada |
