Hot August Bloom

This small work was created for a Small Quilt Exchange started between members of Art2Mail.

I used a photo of a picture by Richard Haynes titled "Kiss of the Spider Woman" as inspiration. Permission was also granted by the private owner of the original.

Techniques:  Raw edge applique, couched yarns, machine and hand embroidery, machine quilted.

Fabrics: Own gel plate painted background and commercial fabrics.

Made for the Black and White and Pink Challenge for members of QuiltArt

Materials Used:  100% commercial cotton fabrics, Rayon Threads
Techniques:  Raw Edge Appliqué, Fusible Appliqué, Machine Quilted

Statement:  This experiment of transferring a fractal image to cloth was pure joy!  I also discovered how little pink fabric I have in the stash.

first to Greyscale and stretched, then increased to poster size and printed to create the pattern.
